IRISH RAILWAYS - the way to see Ireland. Irish Rail provides a modern, comfortable and frequent rail service to most parts of Ireland.
With ten routes in all, our InterCity services serve major towns and cities a number of times daily with catering services on many trains.
Many Eurail visitors use Irish Rail to access some of our many famous holiday locations outside of Dublin, such as the Cliffs of Moher, the Lakes of Killarney, beautiful Connemara and of course the world renowned Giant’s Causeway, and avail of the many rail bus connections offered by our sister company Bus Éireann and our Northern Ireland partner NIR.
The rail service also connects the capital city, Dublin, with Belfast in Northern Ireland. For travel within an hour from Dublin, Irish Rail offers a Commuter service with modern fast diesel carriages and a frequent service at peak times.
The DART (Dublin Area Rapid Transit) service operates on the two main coastal routes into Dublin, stopping at three city centre stations. Frequent services are offered at approximately twenty minute intervals throughout the day.
