The national railway company of Poland is PKP.
With PKP-dependent railways companies:  “PKP Intercity” JSC and PKP Regional. Eurail Ticket are also accepted in the trains of the company “Koleje Mazowieckie” (KM) running mainly in the Mazovia Region

EuroCity (EC), InterCity (IC), Express (Ex) and TLK-trains offer quality transportation in Poland.

The traveling times of EC and IC trains can easily compete with those of cars and airplanes. The InterCity passenger network comprises 20 major towns with regular-interval service on several routes.

The network of the most important international destinations comprises:

  • Frankfurt (Main) (EN “Jan Kiepura”: Warsaw - Frankfurt (Main) - Warsaw)
  • Berlin (EC BWE “Berlin-Warszawa Express”: 3 daily trains on the route Warsaw - Berlin - Warsaw)
  • Hamburg (IC “Wawel”: Kraków - Berlin/ Hamburg - Kraków)
  • Amsterdam (IC 143: Szczecin - Amsterdam - Berlin - Szczecin)
  • Vienna (EC “Polonia”: Warsaw - Vienna - Warsaw and EC “Sobieski”: Warsaw/ Kraków - Vienna - Warsaw/Kraków)
  • Prague (EC „Praha”: Warsaw - Prague - Warsaw; and the night train “Chopin”: Warsaw - Prague/ Vienna - Warsaw)
  • Budapest (Night train “Bathory”: Warsaw - Budapest - Warsaw; and night train “Cracovia”: Kraków - Budapest - Kraków)

InterCity and Express trains run at a speed of up to 160 km/h on the Central Trunk Main Line (CMK) and on the Warsaw - Berlin line. All EuroCity and InterCity trains have air-conditioned coaches. They offer short traveling times, a high standard of passenger service and catering.
The total length of the EC/IC network is 4,060 km (2,500 miles).

On the routes from Gdynia to Zakopane, from Kraków to Ko_obrzeg and from Warsaw to Szczecin/_winouj_cie TLK night Trains are in operation consisting of sleeping cars couchettes and seating cars.

Interregional traffic (long distance fast and slow trains) forms a significant completion of the EC, IC and Express trains network. Bicycle carriage is possible in all trains, many of them have special coaches. Wheelchair passengers can travel in specially adapted coaches. Some of the trains operating in domestic relations carry these kinds of coaches. The InterCity “Fredro” (Warsaw - Poznan - Wroclaw - Warsaw), “Wawel” (Kraków - Wroclaw - Hamburg - Berlin - Kraków) and EuroCity “Jan Kiepura” (Warsaw - Frankfurt (M) - Warsaw) carry an airconditioned 2nd class coach which is adapted to the transportation of disabled persons.

“RETRO” JOURNEYS
A network of narrow-gauge railways offers attractive routes for sentimental journeys. PKP offers journeys through picturesque corners of Poland on trains composed of old locomotives and coaches. If required by customers, the program includes viewing historical objects, photo stops and picnics at a campfire.

Eurail passes are not valid on the following transportation:

  • SKM  (Warsaw region)
  • WKD(Warsaw region)
  • “Koleje Mazowieckie” (KM) – only in the “SLONECZNY”(Sun - ) -train  (Warsaw – Gdynia)
  • PKP Regional- only in the “POCIAG PAPIESKI” (Pope train, Krakow-Wadowice)
  • PCC-ARRIVA (Pomorskie and Kujawsko-Pomorskie Regions)
  • “Koleje Dolnoślaskie” (Low Silesia Region)

In general, Eurail passes are also not valid on :

  • Car transporting trains
  • Chartered trains (Ski, Pilgrimage, etc)
  • Private steam trains
  • Airport links
  • Aid offices
