Validity
Eurail Passes are good for travel in the countries in which the specific pass is valid. As a rule the traveler’s pass is valid in the countries mentioned on their pass. If no countries are mentioned, this means your client has a Eurail Global Pass, valid in the 21 Eurail Global Pass countries.
A Eurail Pass can only be used for travel once the pass has been officially validated.
The selected countries, pass type and the number of travel days cannot be changed after arrival in Europe.
Flexible or consecutive travel days
All Eurail Pass types offer flexible travel days; a specific number of travel days within a longer overall period of validity (e.g. 15 travel days within a 2 month period). The traveler chooses the days on which he/she wants to travel and fills in these dates in the appropriate calendar box on the pass. Flexible travel days may be used consecutively or non-consecutively, provided they are used before the expiry date.
The Eurail Global Pass is also available with consecutive travel days. The traveler does not have to fill in a travel day on a calendar, but can travel each and every day during the period of validity of the pass.
Saver Passes
Saver Passes are intended for 2 or more people traveling together and offer a discount of approximately 15% per person (compared to the price for 1 person).
The Saver Pass ticket consists of the actual ticket and a socalled control voucher. This control voucher bears the names and passport numbers of all travelers and must be kept together with the ticket at all times. You can issue a Saver Pass for a maximum of 5 travelers per ticket. If you want to sell a Saver Pass for 6 persons, you could, for example, issue 2 passes for 3 travelers.
Child discount
Children aged 4 up to and including 11 pay half the adult fare. This also applies to Saver Passes. Children under 4 years of age travel for free, unless a reservation for a separate seat/bed is required. Please note that Eurail One Country Passes may have different rules concerning child discounts.
Senior travelers
Eurail recently introduced special rates for senior travelers choosing a Eurail One Country Pass.
These special rates are not available for all One Country Passes, so please check to find out for which passes this discount is applicable. Senior Passes are intended for travelers aged 60 and above.
Youth Passes
With the exception of a few Eurail Regional and One Country Passes all Eurail Youth Passes are in 2nd class and offer a discount of approximately 35% on the 1st class pass. Youth Passes are available for travelers under 26 years of age. Note that travelers must be under 26 on the first day of validity of the pass. There is no special reduction on Youth Passes for children.
1st or 2nd class
As a rule, Eurail Passes are available for 1st class travel, with the youth passes being valid in 2nd class only.
However some Eurail Regional and One Country Passes offer 2nd class passes for adults and 1st class passes for
youth. Please check for each specific pass to see which class of travel is available.
Tourpasses
Eurail Tourpasses are available for Tour Operators only and may only be sold as part of a package. Please
check with your General Sales Agent to find out more about these passes.
